About The Blog

The idea for the blog, published by the Energy & Natural Resources Practice Group at Clark Wilson LLP, came from the rising significance of the renewable energy industry in British Columbia in particular, but also across Canada and around the world. This industry is booming thanks in part the global awareness of the need for clean energy alternatives and in BC, as a result of the release of the 2007 British Columbia Energy Plan. It is being characterized as a new industrial revolution -  the energy technology revolution. Since this is so important to all of us, we figured we should blog about it.

The blog will follow a broad range of topics in the renewable energy sector, from wind and geothermal, solar, bio, ocean energy, to climate change issues and carbon trading. While we will trend somewhat towards legal issues (we are lawyers after all), the blog will also include industry news and information about community events. We will provide news and commentary about renewable energy matters of all sorts. We are excited in what is happening in British Columbia and around the world and we will share our experience about this and interest in the industry.

Warren Brazier

Warren Brazier is the Chair of Clark Wilson LLP's  Energy & Natural Resources Practice Group. Warren's practice includes acting for developers of renewable energy projects. Together with co-founder Jonathan Lotz, Warren created Megawatt as a means to share knowledge and experience with others who share his avid interest in the growing renewable energy sector in the Province. Warren’s legal background is in corporate/commercial and commercial real estate law.  Warren is a regular contributor to Megawatt.

Jonathan Lotz

Jonathan Lotz is an associate in the Securities and Energy & Natural Resources Practice Groups of Clark Wilson LLP, a leading Pacific Northwest law firm located in Vancouver, Canada. Jonathan advises both Canadian and U.S. issuers on all aspects of corporate finance and securities regulatory matters. A co-founder of Megawatt, Jonathan's goal is to raise awareness about the business opportunities and positive economic aspects associated with renewable energy.  Jonathan is especially interested in carbon trading in Canada and is a regular contributor to Megawatt.

Shauna Towriss
